"Tails" of Comfort & Joy!

“there’ll be scary ghost stories

And tails of the glories

Of Christmases long long ago!”

The halls are decked, the sleigh bells ring, the trees are twinkling with lights, and loved ones gather near to celebrate the most joyful time of year. While presents are unwrapped and wonderful memories are built, the reality of 2019’s fast approach begins to settle in, and with it, an overwhelming gratitude for all that the past twelve months have brought. Today, as I sit with a full heart from Christmas and a giddy excitement for the New Year, I can’t help but reflect on what a magical year 2018 was. Here are just a few of my proudest accomplishments and favorite memories!

  1. I have been able to launch a new website and line of prints and home decor.

With a clean new design, fresh setup for blog posts, events, workshops, and showcases of my original paintings, I revamped my brand and design this past year. Along with that, I launched my “artsy prints and home decor” line. 16 of my original paintings, ranging from florals to landscapes and animals, became available as pillows, tote bags, framed, unframed, and canvas prints, notebooks, mugs, and greeting cards. More of my wonderful supporters have been able to enjoy these designs at lower price points. Accessibility in the arts brings me so much joy, and the ability to add these items to my store collection has been a major goal that I am happy to have accomplished.

  2. I was invited to have my work on display at the New Studio of the Visual Arts for the month of October.

I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to put a series of my animal paintings on display for the month of October. The New Studio of the Visual Arts hosted me as a featured artist during the fall. They held a “meet the artist” reception greeting me and showcasing my collection at the beginning of the month, and displayed my works ranging from domestic animals and pets to exotic creatures from my global travels. I am honored and thrilled to have had this opportunity and received this invitation.

  3. I was commissioned to paint original pet portraits for loving owners.

I love nothing more than bringing happiness to people’s lives, and there are few moments more fulfilling than presenting a completed pet portrait to an owner. This aspect of my business has been incredibly exciting, and I’m enjoying the growth and expansion of this area as more individuals commission work. See below for my most recent pet portrait!

  4. I launched my first online painting course, both in pilot form and the first open-to-the-public release!

Back in October, I launched a pilot painting online course titled “Painting Nature’s Creatures Bold & Bright.” In this course, pilot participants took 4 online lessons in creating grey value studies, working on composition and complimentary colors, and experimenting with loose brushwork to complete two dynamic animal paintings. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and far exceeded my expectations! Comments included “I am so excited about this style of painting. I’m excited to paint now!” (Lori O.) and “There were many little gems shared throughout the lessons that were very helpful!” (Kirsten L.). With these comments (and quite a few things learned along the way), I launched my first public online course entitled “Expressive Animal Paintings Bold, Bright, and Expressive.” Participants were given the chance to take four lessons, released once per week and available until the start of 2019, and have been learning lessons in color, composition, “rule of thirds,” and more as they’ve completed a work of art for themselves. The process has been incredibly exciting, and I love working with these students, coaching them online via both video as well as one-on-one correspondence.

This upcoming winter 2019, I’ll be launching my next online workshop! This one, inspired by my recent vacation to Australia and New Zealand, will feature dynamic subjects from my trip and will give participants the opportunity to adventure alongside me “Down Under” from the comfort of their own homes and without checking a bag!

  5. I have a life full of love, joy, and happiness.

Last but not least, I am so grateful to have the opportunity to paint, to travel, and to spend special time with my darling pet family. I am also so fortunate to have family and friends who support me, and I’ve built new, joyful, fulfilling relationships with new artists and art lovers through my creative endeavors and workshops. It brings me so much happiness to share my painting techniques and build confidence in other aspiring artists as I cultivate these “artsy” friendships!

As a “thank you” to all who have made 2018 so incredible, I am offering a “Holiday Cheer Special” and giving $25.00 off of my PAWS workshop in February. All you have to do to redeem it is visit https://bit.ly/2EsxYJu and use the code HOLIDAYPETS2018 at checkout! As an added expression of gratitude, I’ll be donating a portion of the proceeds from my upcoming workshop to a few of my favorite charities (the Alzheimer’s Foundation, senior domestic animals in need at the Gray Muzzle Foundation, to the care of senior dogs throughout the USA, and Senior Cats for Seniors adoption services in South Florida).

Happy holidays and HAPPY PAINTING! Thank you for your support!
